ICI NEW ZEALAND LIMITED CORPORATE RESEARCH LABORATORY, WELLINGTON

Wellington, New Zealand

Key Findings

Regardless of the level of microbial contamination in the fuel tank, De Bug fuel unit cleaned the truck*s fuel system over the period tested.  De Bugs guaranteed 97.5% of diesel bugs are eliminated  in a single pass through the De Bugs.

 

KOREAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

Key Findings

Colony forming unit (CFU) counts of micro-organisms in diesel fuel decreased by 95% after the De Bug unit is being installed. The level of sludge in diesel fuel also decreases

R.I.V.O IJMUIDEN 每 DUTCH FISHING INDUSTRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Vessels - Two trawlers GO22 & GO28

Key Findings

Gas oil in both vessels were heavily contaminated with bacteria and fungi, microbial contamination controlled and disappeared by end of the week

Fuel filters service life increased from 2 weeks to 4 weeks

About 150 ships were fitted with De Bug in Holland

 

SHELL DEEPWATER PRODUCTION INC, NEW ORLEANS, USA

Key Findings

Filter usage dropped from $8,000 to less than $1,000 a year

No scheduled engine shutdowns occurred due to clogged filters

 

TRANZ RAIL, NEW ZEALAND

Vessels - 78 Metres  ※Fast Lynx Condor§ Catamaran,  V16 Ruston 22,000 hp Engine consume 3,500 LPH gas soil

Key Findings

4 fuel tanks suffering from microbial contamination. After installing the L4000 De Bug units, the fuel became clean and free from microbial contamination

 

LA MAESTRA 每 SARDINE FISHING VESSEL, PANAMA

Key Findings:

Fuel saving of 17.5%

 

KOREAN FISHING VESSELS  每 DONG-WON 601 & DONG-WON 608

Key Findings:

Fuel saving of 20%

Nozzle replacement reduced from 1 unit (6 sets) per engine

 

SHIP-CONTROL SERVICES PTE LIMITED, SINGAPORE

Vessel - MV AKA Blum Pielstick Engine

Key Findings:

Main Engine - Before installing De Bug Model L4000:

8 shaft 195 rpm, main engine exhaust temperature  450 Celsius

 

Before Installing De Bug

Daily fuel consumption 16.5 MT at shaft  195 rpm. Main engine temperature  was 450 Celsius

After Installing De Bug

Daily fuel consumption 15.5 MT at shaft 193 RPM. Main engine temperature fell to 420 Celsius

Vessel - MV AKA Blum Generator Set

Key Findings:

Fuel nozzle ※trumpeting§ and poor combustion ( load fluctuation) and complaint of fuel quality to use marine diesel to feed the generator.  After installing   De Bug Model L1000 to the generator set, there is no more complaint about the fuel quality supply.

 

UNION SHIPPING, AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND

Vessel - Union Rotorua

Key Findings:

Before installing De Bug

Diesel fuel was contamination by diesel bugs. Biocide applied to kill the bugs.

 Filter life was reduced from 6 to 8 weeks to 17 hours or less.

After installing  3 x L4000 De Bug

Microbial fuel contamination problem and fuel filter blockage disappeared.

Filter life was extended and regular filter changes no longer required.

 

MALAYSIAN TUG & TOW SDN BHD, PASIR GUDANG

Vessels - Badang 3 & Badang 4

Key Findings:

Trial 1 - Badang 4 每 Main engine

Significant improvement in fuel quality and reduction in microbial infestation,

Fuel saving of 16%

Trial 1 - Badang 4 每 Generator Sets

Clean fuel entering fuel pump to combustion chamber.

Fuel saving of 13%

Trial 2 - Badang 4 & Badang 6 - Main Engines

Better fuel consumption compared after installing De Bug.

Fuel saving of 6%

Fuel saving of 6.6%

 

CARDOZE LINDO 每 PANAMA

Caterpillar Gen Sets Model 3516 (2497 hp) owned by IRHE and Cardoze Lindo, Government Power Generator Plants. The generator sets have RACOR filters installed.

Key Findings:

After installing De Bug Model L4000, fuel in main gen set was found to be clean and free from microbial contamination.

Life of Racor filters extended from 2 days to 10 days, other gen sets, from 7 days to 19 days.

 

PINAS BAY RESORT S A, PANAMA

Tropic Express owns a fleet of yacht installed with Detroit 4-53 diesel engines. After installing the De Bug unit, engine overhaul time increased from 3000 to 4500 hours.

Tropic Star Lodge installed De Bug units in their sport fishing boats, generator sets and trucks. Experienced in reduction of fuel consumption and clean diesel fuels after installing De Bug Model L1000.

S.I.A 每 SINGAPORE AIRLINES ENGINEERING COMPANY

Utilities installed: Sky Cleaner, Aircraft Tractors and Generator sets

Key Findings

Stops incoming metabolic waste permanently

Disrupted micro organisms and their corrosive deposition

Extended life span of fuel filters

Increase engine efficiency

Reduce wear and tear of plunger and nozzle corrosion.

 

THE SINGAPORE NAVAL MAINTENANCE BASE

Undertook a trial on three vessels involved monitoring fuel consumption (usage per hour). Two vessels which were known to have higher than normal fuel consumption recorded savings of 20% and a third vessel a saving of 15%.

 

SIRIM BERHAD (MALAYSIAN INDUSTRIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH) KUALA LUMPUR

Key Findings

Test on Mitsuibishi trucks. Smoke and gaseous emission reduced by 30.8 %

 

 

STATE RAILWAYS OF THAILAND

 Locomotive Ruston Engines

Key Findings:

Filter use reduced from 24 to 12 pieces a year

Fuel savings from 7% to 10%

Black smoke emission reduced from10% to 30%

 

NORTH ARM TRANSPORT LIMITED., VANCOUVER, CANADA

Key Findings:

Fuel problems contaminated with algae and dirt disappeared after installing the De Bug unit

WESTERN MINING CORP. PETROLEUM DIVISION, PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Key Findings:

Number of monthly fuel filters replacement reduced. Completely ceased the use of chemicals to treat diesel fuel contamination

THAILAND 每 VOLVO TRUCKS

Key Findings:

Tested on a Volvo truck. Difference in fuel consumption with the De Bug unit installed before and after installation showed 12% fuel saving.

 

NETHERLANDS 每 TESTS RESULTS PROVIDED BY VARIOUS END USERS

Dutch Roetmeter tests to measure emissions from 4 vehicles:

SHELL NEW ZEALAND  - Kerbside KPU9600

Fitted with Kerbside Model KPU9600. The quantity of fungi and bacteria in contaminated  diesel fuel dropped significantly. As a result, Shell NZ installed 25 x KPU9600 in truck stops throughout New Zealand

 

SCOTTISH FISHERIES PROTECTION VESSELS

The vessel experienced microbial fuel contamination during bad weather, a built-up of a sludge type biomass in the fuel feed line to the purifier halving its capacity from 1 tonne per hour to 0.5 tonnes per hour. Fuel strainers on the feed lines to the 2 x 3,000 HP engines had to be cleaned every ten days to prevent fuel starvation.

After installing De Bug Model L4000, fuel restrictions eliminated and the  cleaning cycle for engine strainers increased to ten weeks; a 700% increase in life

 

DEEP SUBMERGENCE RESCUE VEHICLE SUPPORT SHIP (DSESS) KELLIE CHOUEST,

This vessel was leased to the US Navy for research, rescue and retrieval, suffered severe algae contamination. The fuel filters required replacement every few hours. After installing the De-Bug in the fuel supply lines, IT solved the  microbial contamination problem and allowed fuel filters to be replaced at  normal servicing intervals.

 

CHANNEL ISLANDS 每 INCONNU 每 60 FT FISHING VESSEL

Inconnu, a 60ft crab and lobster fishing vessel off the Channel Islands experienced fuel starvation due to filter blockage. The problem became so severe that the filters were replaced every day. Treating the fuel with Biocide only increased filter life to two days!

 

After installing De Bugs, the contamination problem was eradicated. The filter life increased to 40 days. The owner also stopped using expensive chemicals.

Ssangyong Nigata 16V 16FX 1,950 Kw x 2 and Ssangyong Cummins 150 Kw x 2

 Average fuel consumption reduced by 8%,

 Average Exhaust Temp reduced by 6%,

Filter change reduced by 66%.

Prior to fitting De-Bug Units injector nozzles had to be changed every 3 months. After fitting De-Bug the injector nozzles did not require changing for 9 months
